The power of positive action

The power of positive action

Topic: Insight /

This crisis has brought about fear, uncertainty and anxiety. But there are some things to feel good about. Really good!

The situation is, for the most part, bringing out the best in people and humanity. Here in the UK, the heroic efforts of NHS workers continue to humble us all. Plus, many businesses are pivoting to support the fight against the virus. This matters.

When we are finally in a position to take stock of this situation and reflect on our responses at an individual, national and international level, the people and organisations that did something positive will be recognised and remembered for their contribution.

Here are just a few examples that we wanted to share from the world of big business.

Apple is working to help source supplies for healthcare providers fighting COVID-19. It is donating millions of masks for health professionals in the US and Europe.

Johnson & Johnson has donated 1 million masks, 48,000 bottles of isopropyl alcohol, an electrosurgical generator, and 1,300 packs of Acuvue contact lenses to affected areas in China.

Uber Eats is also waiving delivery fees for over 100,000 independent restaurants to encourage people to support local businesses.

Business as usual is not possible for the foreseeable future. All businesses are having to adapt – for better and for worse. But there’s no doubt that those making a positive difference will be remembered, and celebrated for their efforts,  in the years to come.
