WHAT'S HAPPENING
BAE Systems at DSEi 2009

The stand this year was the largest ever seen at DSEi having a ground floor footprint of 1500sqm and top deck and bridge fastrack presentation area of a further over 500sqm.

BAE Systems objective was to showcase their global capability, focusing on the 'New Frontline' customer requirements and extended Security and Intelligence capabilities with its Detica acquisition, whilst continuing to demonstrate their breadth and innovation in the Land, Sea and Air domains.

With the global security environment now undergoing a fundamental change. Our national interests are now global, with borders extending into other countries and into cyberspace, so the concept of "national" security, with its traditional "domestic" and "overseas" perspectives, is declining. Our responsibilities are to individual citizens (and soldiers) and vulnerable communities.

The Stand was to designed to demonstrate BAE Systems new capabilities to support Security forces and accommodate all levels of briefing detail, from a 5 minutes fastrack overview presented using 3 ex military presenters using state of the art 104" holopro projection screens, to detailed briefing areas in each of the product areas downstairs.

Rapiergroup helped develop stand content, working closely with BAE Systems Business Development teams and designed the space to work in 3 main areas of capability; Intelligence, Homeland and Border Security and Defence. The products and demonstrations were then grouped accordingly and below the fastrack giving a much greater immersion and experience between av and real equipment.

Rapiergroup and its contractors were completely responsible for the turnkey design and execution of the whole project including all design for structures displayed print, graphics, av, procurement and construction in the short build-up and breakdown available, along with management of catering, rehearsals, stand training and through show support in all areas.Rapiergroup had to source new methods and materials to be able to complete the build within the period allowable, which would normally have required a 24hr crew to achieve.

Feedback so far has been excellent from BAE Systems senior management including their CEO Ian King who would not normally attend for any extended periods but was so pleased came back for a 2nd day during the event!

Further analysis of the attendance data, collected through the TED system and customer feedback will be used at formal wash up session to confirm return on objectives with the Rapiergroup account team.
